Our Story
Just a few short years ago I was in the corporate rat race. As a sales rep for a high end kitchen manufacturer, I often spent nights away from home and missed out on family activities and just as importantly, bike riding. Whether it was mid-life crisis or just plain burnout, the spring of 2010 seemed like the perfect time to make a change.
Owning a bike shop had always been a dream of mine. I’ve been an avid bicyclist since I purchased my first Schwinn Continental in 8th grade. My passion for bikes was further fueled by a cross-country bicycle trip I took while in college.
A buddy and I packed up and flew to San Francisco and dipped our rear wheels in the Pacific Ocean. Then we began the trip of a lifetime back. Totally self-contained, we carried all our gear in panniers.
We faced some challenges, like headwinds in Kansas, The Rocky Mountains, and finding a place to bed down for the night. But it was an experience I’ll never forget. And it solidified my passion for biking.
After college I got married and operated a small bicycle repair business out of my basement. My wife, Jackie, and I had five children. I continued to bike when I could, often commuting to work and back.
In 2010, the opportunity to serve Wooster and the surrounding area with a full service bike shop became a reality. Yes, it has been a difficult economic season but in many ways, it’s the perfect climate to introduce people to the fabulous world of bike riding.
Biking is green—no carbon emissions and no gas guzzling. It’s cheap—the one time purchase of a bike is often less than the cost of renewing your health club membership. Biking is healthy for you and can be a great form of transportation.
Our weekly Tuesday night rides allow you to meet and form friendships with other cycling enthusiasts. Joining our race team will encourage you to take your cycling passion to the next level.

That’s our motto here at RIDE ON. We love to bike—whether it’s on trails, on our scenic country roads, or mountain biking at Vulture’s Knob—it’s our passion. We’d like for everyone to have the opportunity to experience it. Nestled on the historic square of downtown Wooster, Ohio, we are a family owned and operated full line bicycle store. We know that any good bike ride starts with the right bike and the proper fit. That’s our goal — to match you with the perfect bike to fit your needs. We’re experts at measuring and fitting each person to a bike but more importantly, we know that your comfort is what’s really important. For that reason the most often touted words around our shop are “take it for a ride.” We’re fortunate to be surrounded by sidewalks, parking lots and a town square that’s ideal for test rides. On warm days we line our sidewalks with popular models we hope you’ll come and “test drive.” And our service is second to none. Our mechanics are fully qualified at repairs and responding to customer needs. It is also important to have the proper tools for bike maintenance and repair.
