We couldn’t have asked for a better race day at the lakes; not only was the weather perfect, but our guys came out strong and confident!
Races kicked off early with a Cat 5 field of 25 guys — Dan Tekempel and Erik Schmidt represented for RideOn and they didn’t let us down. Riding strong the entire race Dan took turns on the front driving the pace while Erik showed a previous Junior Rider that these races are hard work.
As the bell rang for the final lap Dan pushed even harder and as the final group rounded the corner a group of 15 guys raced for the sprint where Dan was victorious with a 2nd place win! Eric finished strong with 20th place.
Cameron Schmidt and Tyler Howman rode for RideOn in the Junior field with 7 other riders. The race kicked off at a very fast pace for the juniors which weeded out a lot of riders right from the get go. Cameron finished in 3rd place while Tyler worked hard to not come in last and finished in 8th place.
The Cat 4 race was pulled by Carey Ferguson setting the pace for the first half of the race, where he finished in 7th place.
While Joel pushed impressively for a 4th place finish!
The Masters race had the biggest showing of the day with 38 racers in the field. Joel Schmidt hadn’t had enough during the Cat 4 race so he took to the Masters race where he also took 4th place! Ted Pablo raced strong winning the $10 preme and winning 9th place.
Last, but certainly not least, the Cat 1, 2, 3 race kicked off with 27 riders in the field. Todd Howman represented RideOn and helped to bridge up not one but two breaks. After 15 laps, with 15 to go, the field started to dwindle down and by lap 25 the lead break stuck with 5 racers fighting for the finish. Todd finished 14th overall, with a 2nd place win as a Cat 3.
